Adagia - first visit
So, we tried adagio for the first, and last, time. Went in for dinner at 6:30 and the place had very few customers. Great room and atmosphere. I felt like I was in an old castle. Huge fireplace, beautiful windows, a great breeze blowing through the open doors and windows. The menu looked great and I really had to take my time deciding what to order.
We ended up starting with the grilled pizette with arugula, onions, prosciotto and mozarella. We waited a really long time for it considering the number of customers. We each had a glass of wine, a pinot gris and beaujolais while we waited. The pizette was tasty. The onion made it taste very sweet and I couldn't really taste the prosciutto.
My husband ordered the burger. He also had an additional glass of wine, the pinot noir. He said the burger was good, but hade a strong onion powder taste to it. The onion rings were thick and pretty good.
I ordered the pork loin which was not at all what I expected. It was basically an open faced sandwich with a salad. The salad was great. Crisp romaine lettuce with cherry tomatoes and a dijon dressing that was just right. The pork was overwhelmed by the mustard on the bread. It was so spicy it made my nose burn! I ended up eating just the pork with the cheese, sauce and tomato off the top. Not very flvorful.
Total bill ended up at $92 with tax and tip. I was really hoping for something great to take the place of Bendean, which we really miss, but I guess I will have to keep looking.
