High-end food alternatives in Ogunquit?

We're Portland residents who used to enjoy Arrows before they priced themselves out of reality (and happened to find the food to be less and less-enjoyable over the years). MC Perkins Cove strikes us as a high-end MacDonald's: sloppy preparation, get-em-in, get-em-out ethos.

If we're used to Fore Street, 555, Hugo's, Back Bay, One Fifty Ate and the like, are there any other restaurants in Ogunquit worth serious attention? Provence?

Thanks in advance...

  1. White Barn Inn
    On the Marsh
    Ogunquit Lobster Pound
    98 Provence
Ate at David's in Monument Sq last night and it was excellent
    How do these sound?

    1. Try Anneke Jans in Kittery - you need a reservation unless you are sitting at the bar. Lovely food, nice service. Wrning though it is noisey but really great food and drinks.

Joe Allen in Ogunquit Center is very good-everything from burritos, pizza hamburgers, and lobster rolls to very good steak, chops, pasta dishes and other creative foods. They have a Joe allen in Miami, New York, London, Paris and Ogunquit.
it is very casual but has such a nice variety. Their oysters on the 1/2 shell are excellent. Nice desserts.

        1. I would agree that On The Marsh is a fabulous place to try. I was just in the area this weekend and ate top quality everything and really well priced. If you want to hear more, I'm going to post about my trip in a separate post. I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly with your take on both Arrows and MC Perkins Cove...loved them both.
