Elko Basque dining

My favorite in the past has been the Star Hotel. Any comments pro or con on the Star will be welcome, as well as alternative suggestions. Also could use advice re accommodations. Thanks, hounds.

  1. The Star Hotel is supposed to be the best Basque in Nevada, maybe in the West. I've never eaten there, but it has an excellent reputation.

        1. The three main Basque restaurants are on and around 3rd St. downtown and are fairly similar.

          405 Silver St, Elko, NV
          Tel: (775) 738-9691

          Star Hotel
246 Silver St , Elko, NV
          Phone - (775) 753-8696

          Nevada Dinner House
351 Silver St , Elko, NV
          Phone - (775) 738-8485

Personally, I have had pretty good meals at all of them. If I had to choose between the three, I think that I would head back to Biltoki as the lamb was truly outstanding and the sides a bit fresher.

A lot of the locals swear by the Star Hotel and it was pretty good. The crowds there can be pretty overwhelming and the food and service suffers from it.

          The other Basque restaurant,

          Toki Ona
          1550 Idaho St
          Elko, NV 89801
was alright but not worth an effort to get there. The food is not in the same league.

          Alternative include:

          Jrs Bar & Grill
2050 Idaho St , Elko, NV
          Phone - (775) 778-0515

Located in the Gold Country Inn, they serve the best breakfasts and a fairly creative menu.

The Red Lion Casino restaurant/buffet serves pretty solid food that is a step above what is available elsewhere in Elko.

          Hope that helps.
