Oyster Crackers

Is there any difference in brands? Any recommendations for or against? Thank you.

I bought the Premium and they were great - thanks for all the great suggestions. Much appreciated!

I remember Trenton Oyster crackers in a good soup or fish chowder. I didn't know they were even still around, but they are! They're called OTC now, for Original Trenton Crackers.

Skyline Chili in Cincinnati serves oyster crackers that are a bit more substantial. You can order them (along with their pallid canned chili) from their website.

There's a place I regularly get delivery from that used to send out a different brand/type of oyster crackers with every order; I had no idea there were so many varieties. Since then, I've settled on a favorite...the larger, pillowy variety. Turns out Trader Joe's(at least my TJ's) offers a geat rendition of said cracker. Premium's decent, but nothing like these.

If you're floating them in soup, I recommend the Premium brand ones. If you're making some type of snack mix, then the generics are just fine. There is an actual texture difference.

One more thing--if you're making genuine oyster stew, I'd love an invite. :P
