Does Chez Panisse (downstairs) give seconds?

I read on this board that Chez Panisse does give seconds on courses if they have it--is this true, in your experience? Curious because we're planning to go again next week and I think the last time we were there, my poor fiance walked out still hungry!

They are happy to give more of any course if they have it available to give. If you want more of something, you should ask for it while you are still on that course, however. The kitchen feeds the other cooks working and the front of the house when they are done with their service, so if you dawdle, it may be too late. Not that you would need to rush through your meal, but you know what I mean...

      Yes.

My husband and I were there for dinner in March and grilled saddle of pork was the entree (2 slices for each plate, IIRC). The hostess noticed Tim had finished off the pork in a nano second and asked if he'd like more. (He was so gobsmacked he couldn't speak; I said yes.) And she brought over a mini casserole dish with something like five more slices.

        Yes.
You may have to ask. I was fortunate in that our server asked and brought us a plate of the most amazing pork rib bones that I have ever gnawed on. It's a good thing that my Mom could not see me!
        Enjoy your meal.

Thanks so much for the info--and for the good wishes. I'm excited!
