Shrimp - bad, undercooked, overcooked?

Every once in a while when I get shrimp a strange thing happens. The situation - each shrimp is inspected, they all look the same, there is no odor to them and they are all cooked the same - in the shell, sometimes steamed other times boiled. Inspection prior to peeling - they all look the same. When peeling said shrimp after cooking, sometimes, the meat seems to "fall apart" or a better description might be "shred". What is this? I usually throw those away. So, is it bad shrimp? It only happens once in a while and it's usually only 1-3 shrimp that do this. Any ideas?

  1. I think almost everyone has encountered this with shrimp occasioanlly.It is just ragged a bit mushy in texture and all. I always checked it off to shrimp that had "molted"its shell recently and was not as firm as shrimp with a firmer shell.It is only my guess
