Rosita's, Alviso report (w/ pics)

hhc Jul 6, 2006 06:28 AM

I went here for lunch 7/5/06 w/ my friend and really liked it. From the outside I thought it was a tiny little place, but they have a good size dining room inside. About 10 tables and 16 chairs. Outside there is a nice patio to eat at too. One unisex bathroom that I didn't check out right near the entrance.

It's a family business and the waitress seemed to be one of the daughters, maybe 16 years old. She brought chips and salsa, and cups of ice. Grab your own drinks and later pay for it. I asked for tap water which she then brought to me. Food seemed very fresh and homemade. It's more Mexican-American than truly authentic Mexican food but it's good.

We ordered the combination plates served w/ rice and beans. I got #1 combination plate choice of 1 item $5.75: chicken enchilada. I enjoyed it very much. Only thing was my beans were kinda runny but overall the food was good.

My friend got the taco combination plate $5.75. He enjoyed it too. He's been coming here for years.

Total before tip $14.65 for two lunches.

Another table ordered super burrito $4.62-will have to get that next time. Super burritos come w/ rice, beans, cheese and choice of meat: beef, chili verde, carne asada, carnitas, chicken, vegetarian.

Recommended.

yes, it's Alviso, 1st and Grand. I should post on the taco truck (El Taco de Oro) but I didn't take pics last time I was there. Good and cheap $1 tacos-lengua, al pastor, & carnitas I tried so far and enjoyed them.

Thanks for the report. Seems like a great deal at those prices. I think this is the place in Alviso on the corner of 1st St. and Grand, right under a big Electrical tower? It changed names/owners some time ago and I had been meaning to check it out but then I moved to a whole new neighborhood.

By the way, the taco truck near there on Grand is one of the best in the South Bay.
