Tell me your favorite places for BLOODY MARY - thanks.

Any recs for a good Bloody Mary, preferrably one that isn't so thick you think it shared a Y chromosome with a slurpee.

Anywhere in the general LA area (213, 310, 626, 818, 323).

Thanks very much in advance.

  1. The Hungry Cat.

    1. Anybody know where they still serve a celery stalk -- rather than an olive -- in a Bloody Mary?

Jax's Bar and Grill in glendale... yes they have celery salt and sticks. i'm thirsty.

      2. Not sure about the celery stalk, but the ones at Vermont are excellent.
This might get booted though as it's not about food, even though there are no doubt people who get their principal sustenance from Bloody Marys.

          Really??

How can this be "not about food"? We talk about soups, ice creams, shaved ice, etc. on this board, why not a prepared cocktail? I've asked for good lemonade in the past and it didn't get deleted by Chowhound's very own version of Guy Montag ...

It'll be weird if this gets booted ...

The thread is a discussion about where to find the best Bloody Mary's in the L.A. area, it is on topic for this local board.

        2. I love the one at Luna Park made with fire roasted tomatoes. The one at Campanile is excellent too... they roast ALL their veggies in it.. Yummm... :)

Mmmm, guess what I'm having for dinner!

          2. TART restaurant inside the farmers daughter hotel (right opposite the farmers market/grove area)serves the best bloody mary I've had in L.A. (They also use a celery stick in it!)

            1. Hungry Cat (multiple variations, house pickled veg) and Campanile

              1. Ivy at the Shore: as documented by many around here, the food is expensive and erratic, but the bloody mary has always made me happy.

I have never tried the roast-vegetable version Dommy! mentions at Campanile, that sounds fabulous.

                1. Jar has an excellent bloody mary, but it is on the thicker side, if memory serves.

                  1. The Delta terminal at LAX. The only reason I know to fly Delta. It's sublime.

                    1. Eat. On Sunset claims to make the best Bloody Mary in town. No, it's not the BEST, but it was darn tasty.

                      1. Elephant Bar. Love their Mary's in tall tall glasses with celery.
