I am driving from New Orleans to Atlanta. I need a place to stop for lunch. Last time we ate at Bates House of Turkey near Greenville, AL. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

If you want to go as far as Montgomery, try Martin's on Carter Hill Road for meat-and-three (skip the creamed corn.... too sweet) or Ala-Thai East om Atlanta Highway for some very good Thai food.

There is a Dreamland BBQ in Mobile and in Montgomery. The Montgomery one is pretty good, though I hear that it does not compare to the original in Tuscaloosa. Sorry - I am not familiar with any real local places along the way.

There's an excellent Meat and 3 in Birmingham called The Smokehouse on Finley Ave.Run by Greeks so the Seafood and Steaks are topnotch as are the items on the long and intensely varied steamtable.
