Frosty drinks - hot day

Target unaccountably makes the most wonderful "Archer Farms" mango ice frosty (also strawberry which I haven't tried). (Its $1.99 although this week's Target ad says its $1). I sucked the last drop out of the cup it was so mango-y and cool. Then yesterday had a sample of 'honey dew smoothie' at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and that was amazing. Waitperson said the ingredients are non fat milk, ice and honey dew "powder"

If you don't have time to sit down for a Taiwanese slush, the Ten Ren Tea Shops (check tenren.com for locations) have slushies to go. They come in a lot of flavors, but my favorite is red bean and coconut with plenty of slush and condensed milk. Sort of like a three-layered ice but in a to go cup.

go get some halo halo at most filipino restaurants......

      shaved ice
      evaporated milk
      preserved fruits and gels
      ube paste (taro)
      leche flan
      and suguar on top

      it is sooooooo damn good.

The taro slush cooler at Boba Loca. Sooo decadently creamy and yummy. Like a milkshake, but lighter. Not overly sweet or rich. Kinda nutty... Frankly, taro has no right to taste this good.

You're totally right about taro. It's sort of like avocado without all the guilt ...

Have you ever tried Taiwanese slush? I like my Taiwanese shaved ice with azuki beans, lychee (canned of course, much sweeter and syrup-y than fresh ones), grass jelly and just a smidgen of coconut milk drizzled on top of everything.

I prefer QQ or SinBaLa, but the beauty of Taiwanese slush is that it's almost as ubiquitous as a 7-Eleven slurpee ...
