Mar Vista-SM Airport Pizza Delivery

Group dinner at friend's home in a week to watch baseball allstar game. Does anyone have any recommendations for good pizza and maybe salad for delivery? West of Centinela, north of Venice, south of Santa Monica Airport area.

Any good alternatives? Tacos/Burritos that will deliver? Chinese or Thai?

Since you asked for alternatives, I am partial to a place called Wacky Wok, on Washington near Lincoln. I suspect they will deliver to you. It's not the best Chinese food you've ever had, but for the west side, it's good enough.
On the Thai front, do you know about Poom Thai? People have posted about it already, and they also deliver (albeit sometimes slowly.)
    Good luck...

      A note on Villa Italia,

I like their pizza to eat-in but the times that I've carried it home, something happened to it in route. I couldn't begin to explain but just like there's fried chicken that eats well cold and other fried chicken than doesn't, the V.I. pizza loses flavor and texture over a 10 minute car ride. I kept thinking that I was just having bad luck with an off day or something but after the third time in a row, I connected the dots.

Dagwood's is pretty good, but the crust is best when ordered extra thin...their crust is a tad too "firm" if ordered regular or thin. Just my opinion.

Dagwoods Venice delivers to MV area. You can order your pizza regular, thin or extra thin. Salads are also pretty good from here.

I think Julie's is in the little strip mall on the SE corner of Sepulveda and Palms, across from the Trader Joe's. There is a little donut place next door to Julie's that has a friendly Asian proprietess and makes good, crispy cinnamon rolls for a buck. She seems to make more $$$ from lottery sales than baked goods, but I like those cinnamon rolls!

Tell us about Julie's. Is it only good for pizza or are there other things there worth ordering? I've never been there or even heard of it.

I found Julie's when I moved my company's office to Mar Vista. I did some research on LA Citysearch, came across Julie's with some pretty good reviews. Delivery was prompt, and the pizza was a tasty thin crust style pie. I haven't had anything else there yet...hope this helps.

What about Abbot's Pizza Company on Pico? You should be in their delivery zone.

I just want to say that I love questions like this, it's perfectly specific and what this board is all about.

I'm sort of guessing, but I'd say you're too far north for Villa Italian (I think they deliver) and too far south for DaVitas (the definitely deliver). I know you don't want to go the Papa John's route, though there is one of those on Gateway or Barrington fairly close to where you'll be.

(I live fairly close to where you're at and I've done the Outdoor Grill thing for sports viewing at my house, they do party packs of chicken, ribs and the works. But that doesn't answer your question at all. Good luck.)

Does Outdoor Grill deliver? I've been meaning to try them.

Naah, I don't think so, which is one reason why my answer was not a good one, just sort of an alternative suggestion. It's more of a "give 'em a call, then go pick up the food on the way over sort of place."

Not too helpful, I know. But worth trying some time you don't need delivery.

(I've also been known to head for Tito's and order 50 tacos for sports viewing at my house, but that's another debate. Good luck!!)
