Interesting Food in SF Area

I'll be in the San Francisco area, and north of the city, for a few days and was hoping for some suggestions as to interesting places for lunch, dinner or snacks. Please list your favorites, and why you recommend them.

Thanks.

Also, any interesting stops on the way up from LA would be much appreciated.

For interesting you could try "Genki Crepes" which is a Japanese inspired crepe place. On Clement, between 4th and 5th. Very interesting and delicious! My personal favorite is the Nutella and banana.

What do you mean by "interesting"? That could mean a lot of different things to different people.

Hi there -- please discuss chow stops between LA and SF on the California Board. We've moved a post there already:

The Ferry Building is a great stop to check out the Saturday Farmer's market and also grab some great chow.

chubby knows his stuff. check the link and his site.
off the top of my head, i'd add Campton Place for breakfast.
            lunch at fish. (sausalito).
early dinner at Ideale for a low-stress way to end the day.
heading north on route 1 takes you to Inverness. dinner at manka's is worth every penney.
let the record show that there are a lot of really great places along the way to stock up on picnic stuff and even more places worthy of stopping/gawking.
