I just had some awesome grub in Memphis
The BBQ was the ribs at The Rendezvous. (52 S. Second Street, Memphis) Yeah, I know the place has become very touristy. But it got that way because they chef-up some incredible BBQ.
Get the catfish basket at Soul Fish over in Cooper-Young. Excellent southern fried catfish that "goes" perfect with a healthy dose of Louisiana Hot Sauce.
If you are into greasy cheeseburgers, Dyers Hamburgers on Beale serves up a half pound of artery-clogging goodness that even surpasses Webers Rootbeer Stand in Tulsa. And that’s saying quite a lot.

The Rendezvous is my wife's (A native Memphian transplanted) favourite restaurant. I've eaten there every time I've visited. I'm quite familiar with it. It's even the first restaurant she took me to on my first visit.
I liked Dyers but really only for the novelty of it. They deep fry their burgers in a vat of grease. Grease that hasn't been changed. Ever. The original is over 90 years old or something and has never been changed. They took some to start the new one on Beale. There is also Huey's for burgers. My wife's favourite burgs. Found them to be no more special that the small chain in your city. Really good, but nothing special.Glad you enjoyed yourself
