Corte Madera Cafe has great breakfasts and lunches (Tamalpais Av on curve going to Lkspr). We also like Fred's and Bayside Cafe in Sausalito -- they will cook hash browns to order!

I've liked the Half Day Cafe for breakfast for a long time, although I haven't been there for probably a year. It's converted-industrial space with high ceilings and big windows, across from the College of Marin in Kentfield just north of Larkspur.

I haven't yet been to the Ward Street Cafe on Ward Steet just off Magnolia in downtown Larkspur, but have heard and read good things about it.

Many people seem to like Fred's in Sausalito, enough that it's become an institution, but I've never been one of them. For some reason I go back every few years and have always found the food to be at best average, as worst terrible as in the time I ordered French Toast and after they grilled the soaked bread they then dropped it into a deep fryer.

Toast in Mill Valley is supposed to be good, although I haven't been there. If you just want a pastry and really good coffee I would go to Rulli on Magnolia in Larkspur.
