anyone try sam adams patriot collection yet?

i am very interested in this four pack of beers made as authentically as possible from favorites of our founding fathers, all of whom it turns out were home brewers:

a brief article about it:

I've had two out of four. The GW porter reminded me of my second batch of homebrew - not that good. Molasses seemed to give it a bit of twang. Much better than their earlier attempt at the GW porter though. The Ginger honey ale was just ok - ginger was noticeable but not hot on the tounge like ginger beer.

You can read reviews of the beers here:

Saw it at bevmo today. I was intruged, but my homebrewing-beer-judging-club -style-master finacee passed it by, saying it was too gimmicky.

Me, I was interested in the Washington Porter and the idea of a 5% root beer.

Stil, I am under a "no alcohol" Geas for my birthday month. I guess I'll have to wait.

I don't care if it's "gimmicky". Is it yummy?
