Iron Chef Restaurants in LA area

otorosushi Jul 1, 2006 02:59 AM

I'm always looking for new and interesting restaurants that's Japanese/French in origin. I've tried almost all the hip and happening restaurants in LA, but need insights on hidden treasures. Can anyone tell me where to go for Iron Chef Japanese/French dishes?

There is the resurrected Grill Lyon in Little Tokyo that has been getting raves lately...

Orris and Shiro's have the same chef, Hideo Yamashiro. Never thought of him as an Iron Chef, but why not. Shiro's decor is fairly minimal compared to Maison Akira.

Tried Maison Akira, though it was very tacky. Cheap decore and average food. Will try Sawtell Kitchen and Shiro's.

Sawtelle Kitchen is closed for remodeling. I think it'll take a month or two.

I don't know if I can based on what you wrote. IMHO, it would help if you listed the "hip and happening" places you've already been and 1 or 2 examples of French/Japanese dishes that met your Iron Chef hidden tresaure specifications.
