How to get through the posts quicker; a little tip...

Ok, I am still waiting for hot posts to come back, but in the meantime, a friend who is more technically inclined than me pointed out that there is a way to avoid at least most of the scrolling to get to the bottom of a post to see new replies on a post you've already read.

Try this solution:

1. Open post using the 'reply' link; This skips the OP and takes you to the first reply

2. Click on "Add your reply"

This takes you straight to the bottom of the screen where the reply box is; then to see the new replies all you have to do is scroll up a bit. This is especially useful for long replies, especially if you've seen most of the older ones.

For the majority of posts, this is a great way to get in and out of a topic quickly.

Of course, you still have to go back up to the top for the board link, but still...

  1. Click to Upload a photo (10 MB limit)
  1. Better yet, I just use the "End" key on my keyboard. Takes me straight to the bottom. The "Home", "Page Up" and "Page Down" keys are great too, if I get tired of using the scroll wheel on my mouse.

These solutions assume that all new posts appear at the end of the thread, which is not necessarily true. Often it's an embedded reply in the the middle of a long th read that's the new post. If so, you gotta scroll.

Good point, but that's where "Page Down" can be usefull.

I like 'end' and 'home' too - very underused features on most keyboards. I go to the 'end' to see if there are new posts and then 'page up' if a long post. If not 'end' and then 'home' - easy-peasy.

For some reason, 'end' does nothing on my keyboard, at least in this context...
