Beard Papas...coming to Sawtelle TOMORROW

The Japanese cream puff chain is opening tomorrow, July 1st, at 10:00 AM at 2130 Sawtelle, Suite 110. I am told that it will be next to the market, but I am not sure which market: Nijiya or the other one closer to Hide Sushi????

  1. So THAT is what was happening there! Thanks for the heads up! WHOO HOO!! :)

ETA: PayorPlay and I a few weeks ago were musing over the closure and seemly complete remodel of Mousse Fantasy right next to Nijiya market.

Dommy -- what space are you thinking about?

Sorry! The dangers of posting while doing spins in your chair at work... LOL!! :) Check edit above! :)

Do you think it is going into the Mousse Fantasy space? Is 2130 -- Suite 11 -- that address? I really thought Mousse Fantasy was returning anew?????

It is just a wild guess, but I think a safe one (sadly their website says nothing about the Sawtelle opening). The space is the perfect size and the wrap up job they had going in there is almost as if they were trying to hide something (And then that weird L.A. City note which is why I took note of how severe everything looked).

But of course, we'll find out tomorrow! Whoo Hoo!! :)

I just checked yp.yahoo.com, and Nijiya's address is 2130 #105. So Beard Papa's gotta be in the same complex. I can't think of another empty space other than Mousse Fantasy.

      2. Speaking of Beard Papas, can an anyone tell me exactly where the one on Highland is located? Do I need to actually park and enter the Hollywood/Highland complex to find it? (Yeah, and I wouldn't be so damn lazy if I could lay off the cream puffs...)

It's at the VERY front of the building right by the big elephant stairs, right underneath the Sephora. Sadly, you do have to park in the complex, or do what we did a bit ago, do the drop off and circle the block (They aren't NEARLY as busy as they have been in the past)

From Hollywood Blvd, walk up the staircase directly across from the El Capitan Theater.

            Here's a photo for reference:

          2. Mamma mia! Compartes chocolate, Lucky Devil's toasted pecan shake, and now this! I'm not going to survive the summer.

            1. YIPPEE!!! Thanks for letting us know. That's right by my car place. Now I gotta find more reasons to take my car in.

              1. There's one opening sometime in the same shopping center as Mei Long Village in San Gabriel.

Yes! This one use to be a tea place that I liked a lot (great lychee bits in their green tea!), but when we peeked in last weekend, nothing had moved! I suspect they will be awhile yet in making the change.

                2. If they have the caramel filled creampuffs, buy many and don't share them. Must go sponge drool off face...

Forget about the coffee filling ones...they were disgusting.

                    2. In all seriousness - we brought these to a Super Bowl party and adults were throwing children out of the way so they could cram in seconds and thirds. Share at your own risk!!

                      1. HOORAY!!!!! I actually get them shipped to me from NYC on the Upper West Side!! Can anyone tell me where EXACTLY on Sawtelle? Near Blue Marlin? Hide? Thanks so much!

Cupcake - If it is where we think it is, it is right next to Nijiya Market -- same side of the street as Hide, across from Blue Marlin. It is on the street level of a 3-story (I think 3-story) mini-mall...there is a liquor store on one of the corners of this mall. I hope this helps! The mall tends to be very crowded for parking; I would suggest going down Sawtelle to park. The walk is pleasant!

                        2. Yes! YES! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Can't wait! Forget the diet I was planning. Do you think there will be a zoo tomorrow?

Do you mean the one in Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry? Or is there another one opening?

                              1. re: AlwayzHungry

Looks to be different from the Industry location, according the BP website

                          2. GIVE US THE SCOOP!!! WAS ANYONE THERE???

                            1. I came by this morning, around 10:20. A lovely group of girls who filled my order as I watched and salivated. Literally, filled them with custard. Only puffs for now are vanilla -absolute heaven. First devoured in the parking lot- light, not too sweet. The shell crunchy and light and addictive. Green tea and chocolate to be added soon. Not too many customers this morning, maybe only a dozen, no line. They had some baloons and free coffee. It looks like it will be a little combination cafe/bakery.

I did not see a sign outside, but they had some grand opening baloons. It is in the mall on the same side as Hide, directly across the street from Blue Marlin, on the first floor. It seems to be sharing its space with the Mousse Factory.

It is very close to home, so it will be a regular stop. Thanks for the tip about the opening.

PS- they are so good, that even my sweet averse SO has stolen some from me. I might have to get a refill.
