Beard Papas...coming to Sawtelle TOMORROW
The Japanese cream puff chain is opening tomorrow, July 1st, at 10:00 AM at 2130 Sawtelle, Suite 110. I am told that it will be next to the market, but I am not sure which market: Nijiya or the other one closer to Hide Sushi????

I came by this morning, around 10:20. A lovely group of girls who filled my order as I watched and salivated. Literally, filled them with custard. Only puffs for now are vanilla -absolute heaven. First devoured in the parking lot- light, not too sweet. The shell crunchy and light and addictive. Green tea and chocolate to be added soon. Not too many customers this morning, maybe only a dozen, no line. They had some baloons and free coffee. It looks like it will be a little combination cafe/bakery.
I did not see a sign outside, but they had some grand opening baloons. It is in the mall on the same side as Hide, directly across the street from Blue Marlin, on the first floor. It seems to be sharing its space with the Mousse Factory.
It is very close to home, so it will be a regular stop. Thanks for the tip about the opening.
PS- they are so good, that even my sweet averse SO has stolen some from me. I might have to get a refill.

re: cupcake
Cupcake - If it is where we think it is, it is right next to Nijiya Market -- same side of the street as Hide, across from Blue Marlin. It is on the street level of a 3-story (I think 3-story) mini-mall...there is a liquor store on one of the corners of this mall. I hope this helps! The mall tends to be very crowded for parking; I would suggest going down Sawtelle to park. The walk is pleasant!

If they have the caramel filled creampuffs, buy many and don't share them. Must go sponge drool off face...

Speaking of Beard Papas, can an anyone tell me exactly where the one on Highland is located? Do I need to actually park and enter the Hollywood/Highland complex to find it? (Yeah, and I wouldn't be so damn lazy if I could lay off the cream puffs...)

re: David Kahn
It's at the VERY front of the building right by the big elephant stairs, right underneath the Sephora. Sadly, you do have to park in the complex, or do what we did a bit ago, do the drop off and circle the block (They aren't NEARLY as busy as they have been in the past)

re: David Kahn
From Hollywood Blvd, walk up the staircase directly across from the El Capitan Theater.
Here's a photo for reference:

So THAT is what was happening there! Thanks for the heads up! WHOO HOO!! :)
ETA: PayorPlay and I a few weeks ago were musing over the closure and seemly complete remodel of Mousse Fantasy right next to Nijiya market.

re: liu
It is just a wild guess, but I think a safe one (sadly their website says nothing about the Sawtelle opening). The space is the perfect size and the wrap up job they had going in there is almost as if they were trying to hide something (And then that weird L.A. City note which is why I took note of how severe everything looked).
But of course, we'll find out tomorrow! Whoo Hoo!! :)--Dommy!
