Outdoor "cook your own" restaurant?

lajesster Jun 30, 2006 06:19 PM

Hey all,

I've always loved the recommendations on these boards, but this is my first post asking for help.

My friends and I are looking for something to do this long weekend, and the requirements are:

BBQ, booze, and Fireworks.

Now, the fireworks won't be a problem, but none of us have backyards, so BBQ with booze is the trouble.

What we're looking for is a "cook your own" style restaurant... something like Gyu-Kaku, only maybe more American... hopefully with outdoor seating and definitely with beer and/or liquor.

If anyone has any ideas, please let us know!!

Happy 4th

Not exactly traditional Fourth of July fare, but you can do cook-your-own BBQ at Chosun Galbi on Olympic in Koreatown... ask to be seated outside. They have a full bar.

I don't know if there's a grill-your-own steak place in LA, so can't really help on the "American" side of things, sorry.

The Venice Room in Montebello is a very old school place where you can cook your own steaks. I'm not sure if it is still open, but here is an old LA Weekly article about it.

The Venice Room is still open, and sounds amazing. If we don't go for the 4th, we'll definitely go in the next few weeks. Thanks for the awesome recommendation!

There used to be a restaruant in Palmdale that had a large indoor grill and you would choose your raw hunk of meat and cook it yourself. Being in Palmdale this time of year negates the idea of doing it outside for me.

It was near the intersection of 10th and S street I think. If someone can tell me the name and address I would like to go back. I was not driving so I din not pay enough attention.
