Spanish place(L.E.S.) that also inherited chef and recipes from Italian place that closed?

This is for inveterate "'hounds" who remember mention here of a Spanish place around 1st Ave. I thought it had El in the name. It had the reputation of having absorbed a chef from an Italian place that closed. I heard the chef still does some of her signature Italian recipes from the place that closed at this Spanish or maybe Mexican place. It used to be posted about a lot here and is very reasonably priced.

  1. You're probably thinking of El Girasol/La Foccacieria

Thanks, I've only read about it here and someone sitting at the bar at Sapporo was enthusing about it. Thanks to you, I can try it out!
