Domenico's on Washington in Pasadena

  • 3

I'm fairly new here but I've seen no mention of this fine place. Best Italian food around for my money. They are known for their pizza, but I go for these:
Linguini Scampi
Angel Hair pasta
Calzones made to order
Veal Parmigiana
Fettucini Alfredo w/shrimp & mushrooms

all entrees always come piping hot, and the portions are ample, usually something to take home. The salads are excellent, too. Only their garlic bread can stand improvement, but it HAS gotten better over the last couple of years. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is cozy.

So why doesn't anybody here talk this place up? Too far off the beaten path? Not "hip" enough? Even if money was no object, I'd rather eat here than a lot of pricier places.

  1. Domenico's has got a lot of play, try and do a search on it. I just did a search on "Domenico's" on the L.A. board and got hits on 82 threads that mention Domenico's.

Here is one of my old posts on their Monrovia location. When we lived in Pasadena the Washington location was our local joint for pizza. The original Domenico's is the Washington location, the founder's sons opened the branches, now the third generation is in the kitchen and the front of the house.

I did the search and a lot of the posts are mine! We used to go to Monrovia but I think the quality has gone way down there. Washington is still the best for me. We also used to go to the one on Fair Oaks before it closed.

We used to go to Monrovia once or twice a week, since I have been dieting for the past 18 months, the wife and daughter still go, but I stay away --- too much temptation.
