Recommendations in or around Whitburn / Roker / Seaham / Sunderland / South Shields (maybe Durham)
We're staying in the cottages at <a href="http://www.nationaltrustcottages.co.u... lighthouse</a> in Whitburn, Tyne and Wear.
We've got a spare day off, we're planning on walking along the coast and would like to get some good food down us, and maybe go to a market.
We don't eat much meat and often go to vegetarian restaurants, but often will try any local specialities (which I guess is probably fish and chips on the coast, yum!). Ah god y'know what, we'll eat anything as long as it's good!
We had 2 wonderful meals at the Seven Stars in Shincliffe, just outside Durham, a couple of years ago. Very good fish dishes (and meat, but you don't want that), as well as AMAZING desserts. Great line we heard there (and have used ourselves since): "the dessert isn't so big, it's the plate that's small."
