Board Indexes Enlarged To 40 Topics

  • 6

It looks like sometime today or this evening the Chow team modified the board software, as the board index pages are now displaying topics in increments of 40 instead of 20.

  1. Yep, and it's a signficant improvement. Way to go, techmasters!

    1. Getting better. If it were up to me I'd drop the "posted by whomever" below the thread titles. I'd also just label the left column "Replies" at the top and reduce the reply counter to a smaller font, make that a link(or maybe not even make it a link since it seems a pointless one), and omit the "Replies" under the counter. That'd give more room for thread titles/per page.

The replies link is VERY useful. I use it exclusively. Here's why.

Yeah, the 40 lines per page is REALLY helping.

You know you are right. I could do without the 'posted by' if it meant more lines per page. It's supposed to be about the food and not the poster, right?

No one does this that I recall, but it would still be nice if once a post was open on say, the third page. When you clicked on the board name, it took you back to the place in that page where you clicked the link.

I'm opening posts in new windows, but I'm catching up on my reading, so once I'm keeping current, I guess it won't be a big deal since I'll only be reading from the first page.

Guess I haven't run into a post that was long-winded enough for it to matter to me, but I can see how it might fit in with some board users' browsing style. On second thought, it probably is worth keeping as a link(but hopefully done more space efficiently.)

            is very important to me.
There are poster's who's opinions and tastes are similar to mine.
When looking for a restaurant, I search their posts.

      2. I'd still prefer to be able to set the number. I don't find it convenient to have to switch between paging down in the browser and clicking "Older."
