Hi. My sister is taking my two oldest to the Kutztown Festival. Has anyone been and any commentary to offer? They say on their site that they have an ox roast?! TIA!
I think you can find posted from last year but it's dreamy. Get an ox sandwich and one of their homemade ice cream sandwiches. Also, lots of apple dumplings abound, as well as good sarsparilla and root beers.
It's great. The look of the ox may turn off the kids (depending how old and tolerant they are of seeing exactly where their food comes from), but it's good. Also the kielbasa with sauerkraut is incredible, and the corn fritters are v. good (both in the food-oriented section toward the other end from the ox). Also recommend the lemonade, old-style soda, and the kettle corn.
When I've gone to Kutztown its been to Renningers Flea Market. THere is a large Amish farmers market attached to it in which you can get all sorts of wonderful things from locally butchered meats and cheeses to breads to pies and of course all things in season from the farms. There is also a very good hoagie stand in there. If you have time, bring a cooler with you and load up on some of the things they have to offer.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will pass them along to her. My kids are excited!! I wish I could go to hit the flea market, I love them!!
