sports bars in Newburyport? with good seafood even?
Coming up to Boston this weekend and must compromise with my soccer-crazed boyfriend to go to the beach. Can you think of any places that fit the above bill? 1st consideration primary, but the addition of the latter would be the greatest day ever. Thanks so much.

We had lunch there yesterday (we were also seeking out a place with the soccer match). We were both pleasantly surprised by the food: we split the tune tartare appetizer (big enough for a light lunch) and fried haddock+chips. The tuna came on a bed of sesame oil-dressed seaweed salad and had a wasabi dcream sauce dribbled on top with some black sesame seeds (a bit too much sauce for my taste but my DC sopped it all up). The frying was done with a nice hand - very light and crispy fish. The fries were so-so. With two beers on tap, our bill came to $22. Perfect way to end a day spent on Plum Island!

I'm not sure if there's a "sports bar" per se in N'port, but try Michael's Harborside - not a sports bar, but they show sports on the bar TVs. Fried and grilled seafood, on the water. Good selection of beers. About 4 TVs in the bar; I suspect soccer might be on one of them.

Thanks for the suggestions! We ended up at a nice bar/grill called Grog, right in the middle of town. Nice size TVs (2), both playing the game and a friendly crowd of soccer fans. We decided to save room for Farnham's, but our neighbors' food looked and smelled pretty good. Just in case anyone finds themselves in a similar predicament this weekend....
