Sorry for the emphatic punctuation, but this place has been mentioned many a time on this olde boarde and I have never seen a substantive review. Now that I'm in the neighborhood the curiosity is really getting to me. Would anyone who's been there recently please report?

I've been inside once - and the staff was very pleasant - but I was shy about eating there at the time. It's always seemed that no Hounds had ever been, but these days it appears to be the last Hungarian place left. Let us know!

Hey sequins, since you're in the nabe, why not do some chowhounding and report back to US. The address is 323 E. 79 between First and Second avenues. I've been meaning to check out the Hung. Lit. Soc. for some time, but I guess it just never became a priority chowdesire for me.

the folks that ran that nice little hungarian restaurant in whitestone were running it for awhile, but i think i remember reading they left and the hls stopped functioning as a regular restaurant. not sure. i'd call or stop by and ask.
