Tips for Saul?

Taking my girlfriend to Saul tonight for her birthday. Any tips/ recs?

  1. For appetizers, I like the pork belly, the foie gras or the duck confit. For entrees the scallops and the rib eye are both outstanding and if they have the lamb three ways as a special, get it. It is seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten. Enjoy, it's one of my favorite restautants in the city.

    1. We celebrated a birthday at Saul last weekend and it was my favorite meal there so far. I have enjoyed the confit duck in the past, and my mate's foie gras pate this time was really good. I keep going back to the pan roasted cod because it is so good, with cockles, chorizo and a bacalao and potato cake. We find the service gracious, and I have to say, too, that it is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

      1. Agreed about the lamb special, but if you're really lucky it will be served FOUR ways, as it was the night I had it.

        1. Thanks, everyone. We had grilled sardines (good, but not as good as the ones I had at Al Li Da), foie gras (killer), the cod (good, but not sure I'd order it again) and the rabbit (tasty, especially with the gnocchi and mushrooms).

          A top-notch place for sure. Sorry there was no lamb special.

          1. I agree with all of the recommended dishes so far, especially the lamb three (or four) ways special. My favorite preparation of in special is the braised lamb shoulder wrapped in a chickpea crepe. it's truly amazing.

            For a special birthday celebration, consider having Saul prepare a tasting menu for you (call and discuss in advance). They do a terrific job and offer thoughtful and creative wine pairings as well (if you wish). We've done this a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like others have said, Saul is one of our favorites in the city.
