Are there any recommendations for a cheap place for dinner in the Union Square area? Something burger-ish would be fine.

You can get a tasty burger and fries for less than $10 at Old Town Bar.

Also rec the burger at Cedar Tavern. I get it with the very good onion rings.

blue 9 has pretty good burgers but it's not really a sit-down place. dukes has a decent burger and it's actually more of a restaurant.

Mandler's has decent sausage sandwiches (like 6 or 7 different types of sausage). It's right off of Union Square.. cheap and casual.. you can also get fries, etc.

Maybe MetroCafe for bugers, Piola for pizza- these are both sit down and dine places. Although I love Old Town Bar the last time I was there I had a couple mice sightings just to be warned.
