Peter Leger's dressing and steak sauce the same?

I went to Luger's and have a question. Are the dressing for the tomato and onion salad and the steak sauce one in the same? There was a gravy, er, dressing boat on the table for the salad and nothing else was brought out for the steak. My fellow diners used it for the steak and so did I. It seemed a little sweet for steak and tasted like cocktail sauce.

Peter Luger's doesn't have a steak sauce. That sauce is a "steakhouse" sauce. It's not meant for the steak. And really why would anyone ruin a fine steak with a sauce?

that's the "steak" sauce alright, although I can't say I've ever seen anyone use it on the steak. We just use it on the tomato & onion salad and put a few spoonfuls of the butter/juice from the serving platter on the steak.
