Good place to read/study in the Village(s)?

Hiya...I'm looking for a good non-Starbucks coffeeshop, etc. that won't mind if I only drink one cup of coffee while reading a book, especially in the Village(s). I really like Grey Dog's, but they tend to be quite busy, and I either can't get a table right away, or I feel bad taking up a table that could for people ordering meals.

Any ideas?

'Snice on 8th Ave. & W. 4th (really nr. W. 13th St.); large place, great coffee, free WiFi, and great sandwiches and salads. Very similar but better than Grey Dog.

Joe is also great, but you'll have to find somewhere else for a lunch break.

THINK which is on Mercer just above 3rd is a very big coffee bar where you are encouraged to stay for as long as you wish.

Either of the two Joe locations: Waverly Place at Gay St, or the newer one on East 13th Street.

Doma on Perry street is ok because they stay open til midnight, but they can be a bit loud/packed so bring headphones or earplugs.

Try Marquet on 12th bet. 5th and University, or that great coffee spot the name of which I cannot now recall, due north on 13th. I expect The Adore (a few doors down on 13th might also be indulgent).
