I want to be Pate' again + how do you post a picture?

Like anything new I'm having a little difficulty. I have 2 questions.

1.) Is there a way to be Pate' instead of Pate? When I went to create my name it wouldn't take the "apostrophe", so now I'm Pate which I think you would agree is not the same.

2.) How do you post a picture?

I would imagine this is a work in progress and I applaud your efforts.

Yes, but you have to compose the string of characters in your word processor, then cut and paste them in here, like this:

But note, not all symbols/character sets are supported. (This will work in board postings, may or may not be supported in the user sign-up process.)

We are working on a cool photo posting feature, however, you can follow the instructions here for the time being:

Well if I'm already signed up as Pate, how do I change that?

        1. re: Pate

Email us at and we'll try to help. It's a bit complicated, so please be sure you absolutely want to do it before emailing.

    2. The heat must be affecting my brain. I get #2. I'd still like to be Pate' again though.

      1. Thank you so much for offering to help me. I know how busy you are right now and your kind efforts are really appreciated. I've been posting to Chowhound as Pate' for a couple of years now and for continuities sake I'd like to remain Pate'. That and the fact Pate' is relevant to food, and somewhat clever because my name is Patty. Get it Pate', Patty? Pate just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Anyway, if you can help me out I'd really appreciate it. There is a special place in chow heaven for you :-)

As the person who has always posted as "peppermint pate" (a hopefully cute foodie derivation of Charlie Brown's "peppermint patty" and not a name that rhymes with "peppermint kate"), I'd also be interested in putting an accent over the "e", if possible. Thanks.

          1. re: peppermint pate

You can do this by typing "Peppermint Pat" and then hold down the ALT key and type 130 on the keypad (has to be on the keypad, not on the row of numbers above the alphabet) -- then release the ALT key. You'll get "Peppermint Paté".

          1. I just registered under this name with no problem. (Note the accent mark). So, I guess it's fixed.
