I tried this at a joint called Brooklyn Ice Creamery (SF's Mission District) a few years back. And it's really really good, and a very interesting, refreshing flavor.

anywhere in LA to get it.

I had this for the first time at Blair's in Silverlake.

I know they recently lost their pastry chef, but maybe they retained her recipies...

You can get kulfi, which is home-made ice cream flavored with cardamom, at most Indian restaurants. Some people don't like that it often has a more crystalline texture than processed ice cream.

        Mashti Malone's is fabulous.

It's been a while since my last taste, but Boule had a nice caramel-cardamom ice cream.

There is another Mashti's in Glendale. Persian ice cream with cardamom, rosewater, orangeblossom water, pistachios, and I don't know what else but it's DELICIOUS. I recommend faloodeh (rosewater sherbet) with fresh lime juice... best thing to beat the heat out here.

Traditional saffron ice cream (baastani) has pistachios in it and is just delicious but watch your waistline... it comes with bonafide chunks of cream in it. Best to share. ;)

I believe Mashti Malone's has several flavors with cardamom in it. La Brea, north of sunset.
