Going Back To Index When Looking at Older Posts

If I'm at, say, the second set of 20 topics at Site Talk, and click on a topic, and then finish reading the thread, I have two obvious ways to go back to the index of the second 20 most recent posts:

1. Click on the backward arrow. If I do that, the "new" tag doesn't go away on the index.

Click on the board name. If I do that, I get sent back to the most recent 20 posts instead of where I left off.

Is there any way to go back to the appropriate index page without encountering either of these problems?

  1. I haven't yet found a way to do what you ask. But instead of back arrow, I use the delete key to go back to the board index. It's a bit faster.
