Stellas Pizza and Jasmine Persian

Took a couple of quick stops on Mt. Auburn Street. Had my first slice of Stella's Pizza...perfect thin crust, amount of sauce and cheese. Rivals any NY pizza...I'm sold! Also had a combination appetizer plate at Jasmine, newish persian spot across from Stellas, while we watched the World Cup on their LCDTV. Grapeleaves lovingly warmed and filled with just the right balance of rice, mint, lemon. The smoky, grilled pitas were perfect for dipping into our smooth hummus...not too garlicky, fresh chick peas. The best of all was an eggplant dish much better than the usual baba..the name escapes me, but it was roasted and pureed w/sauteed onions, mint and olive oil..we sopped up every drop with the pita! Topped off with the cardamon-laced house tea..really tasty. I would definitely recommend this place. Nicer atmosphere than it's predecesor (cloths on tables, heavier chairs, sweet service).

The appetizer combo plate was 7.99. Most items were in the 3.99-12.99 (kebab plates) range. Reasonable.

I've had one pie from Stella's and found it to be underseasoned and a little dry- similar to Armando's in Cambridge.

Science Chick- can you give me an idea about the prices at Jasmine?

I love Stella's, I ask for extra crispy. I originally found it on chowhound 2 years ago. Always do take out, hardly any room to sit.
