old posts on split boards, a missing post, random questions and praise
First, let me say that I am amazed to see all of the old posts here and searchable (lightning fast, at that). I'll admit I thought that you would lure us over here with an heirloom carrot and then cut us off, given the sheer insanity of moving them over. Thanks for preserving the history of this crazy little community.
Now that they are here, I'm wondering what will happen on boards like the international board which have now split into new boards for many countries. Will moderators direct posters to the country boards when they respond to old posts? It could be somewhat problematic, since the participants won't be notified of new posts on these older threads and there could be active threads pertaining to Japan on both the International and Japan board, for example.
Second question: there are some recent threads missing from the international board. The one that I noticed was from a few days ago (pertaining to tapas in Madrid). I held off on answering it, because I knew that the site was going to be switched any day, but now I can't find it (talk about a needle in a haystack!). Are these last minute posts waiting to be imported? Or should I rely on my (somewhat faulty) memory to respond on the new Spain board?
Can't wait to see how this all evolves.... Thanks again.
Thanks so much! And now my other question comes into play... Should I respond on the International board or post a note on the thread there and answer it in Spain?
Thanks, I was thinking that only older threads that have new replies (meaning they become relevant again) are worth moving.
Oh, also, I made a handful of replies on the SF board about 30-60 minutes before the new board went live. Those messages don't seem to have have transferred with those threads.
