Kam Sam Grocery in Rockville

Not sure if it has been covered but I was near Rockville today and decided to stop by one of my favorite lunch places, Kam Sam Grocery Store. It is a chinese grocery store near downtown rockville.

They have a lot of prepared food and for lunch you get a bunch of rice and a choice of 3 dishes for $4.25. This has to be one of the best bargains in town.

My wife got mopo tofu (pretty good, could have been spicier), deep fried eggplant (excellent), and a giant meatball (really good).

I got acorn jelly salad, pickle cucumber, and spare ribs. They were all outstanding!!! Kids got steamed/pan fried dumplings.

It is safe to say, it is really good chinese and an unbelievable price. I also find the one in Rockville so much cleaner than the one in Annandale.

Give it a try if you are in the area.

  1. Where did you and your family consume the goods? Unlike the Korean markets, the most chinese markets, except for Great Wall, don't have dining areas. Have you tried Maxim's food yet?

We brought it back home and eat it in our backyard. Yum!!!

So the great wall has food? Last time I was there they still had not set the prepare food section up fully (except the roast food stuff). How is it?

I've never had the food at Great Wall. It looks ok, but not as much variety as Maxim or Kam San. GW also now has a bakery, and they're renovating an area nearby for sushi, I think. One bonus about GW is that they have clean and decent sized restrooms.

I have ordered the BBQ roast pork at Maxim and it wasn't that good. Very dry.

    2. Wow, $4.25 for lunch sounds great. Plus now I feel compelled to at least 'see' this giant meatball.
