Food near Freight and Salvage - Berkeley

I remember a thread about this sometime relatively recently, but cannot for the life of me find it.

Can anyone point me to this thread, or recommend some good places in the neighborhood (University and San Pablo) to pick up takeout to eat while waiting in line outside the Freight? Thanks!

Pizza by the slice from Lanesplitter, right around the corner on San Pablo.

Pakistani from Indus Village, 1920 San Pablo, or Kabana, 1106 University.

I'd avoid the Jamaican place on the corner, uninspired steam table.

      Positively second the Lanesplitters recommendation.

There's an Indian place -- go a couple of blocks east on University and just off University to the south (there's an Indian grocery store on the corner). It's cheap and good but I don't know if they have take-out.

That's my beat. For line eating, I'd just go to Popeye's three short blocks north on San Pablo. Casa Latina is on the way. The Cheesesteak Shop is around the corner down University. You could also try appetizers across the street at Priya. They make the crispest pakoras. I've been told that one of the two Mexican groceries across the street makes good sandwiches and if you get there early enough Country Cheese makes a nice Italian roast beef sandwich and has bins of nuts, etc.
