Adding URLs, photos

Maybe this question should be in Feedback or Site Talk, but as Bob Martinez said elsewhere, it's cool to be the first to post in a new board.

Anyway, are we no longer able to add links or pictures to our posts? I don't see a place to do that in the "post a new topic" form.

I'm surprised you didn't go with something more like the very popular vBulletin software, which allows highlighting text as links, photo links from URLs, uploaded photos, fonts, colors, and lots of other features. Still, it's nice to see the new, easier to navigate software up & running.

We're working especially hard on the photos. This is all work in progress. This is a start, not a finished product. So have fun, and watch for improvements!

In the meantime, you can post links to pictures like this:

Okey Dokey. I went to the web site that had the photo I wanted to post, and displayed the page with that photo on it. Then I moved my mouse over the photo, right clicked the mouse and clicked on Properties. When the Properties box opens up one of the Properties it will show you is the URL for the photo. I dragged my mouse over the URL (making sure to drag all the way through it, including the part that was scrolled off the Properties display), copied that and then pasted that URL in to my Chowhound posting.

              Make sense?

So you can do that on individual photos, or possibly (I haven't played with this) doing the same with the URL of say a Kodak EasyShare album, or any of the other photo service albums out there.

We don't support HTML posting, and don't currently have an option for adding photos.

You can add links just by copying the URL into your post- as many as you want (as opposed to the one link limit with the old software).

You can insert hyperlinks (inluding links to images) by pasting them "as is" like:

                http://www.eatingchinese.org/bbspix/s...

I haven't figured out if it's possible to "embed" the pictures (I've forgotten all the html I ever knew).
