Burning Hell's Kitchen

Caught about ten minutes (that's all I could stand) of "Hell's Kitchen" the other night. Am I the only one who thinks this show is dull, unoriginal, and undermines being a cook/chef? Why would underqualified people (sorry but a deli manager and cafeteria cook?) go on stage just to be publically lambasted by Gordon Ramsay? Perhaps I don't get the gist of the show. Anyway, "whatever, cook on tv."

I can't watch it, it really bothers me. I can't even stand the ads.

It's silly reality TV, which is not for everyone. And regardless of your tastes, it's pretty harmless and isn't going to undermine anything.

I'm not a big fan of Hell's Kitchen but I do watch it. Much prefer his British show "Kitchen Nightmares" on BBC America.

It's TV. Horrible, but TV. But yes, it's an embarassment to those of us who can actually cook.

I think it's amusing. Someone on Television Without Pity said they loved the show b/c the contestants were complete idiots that deserved to be lambasted by Gordon Ramsay. I have to admit that's why I like it. It's a guilty pleasure.

I don't think it actually undermines anything. You can learn some intersting things from Ramsay from the show. But otherwise it's almost a parody of Food TV competition shows. I would say Food TV has done far more to undermine food and it's preparation recently than this show has.

I do like to see Chef Ramsey and his yelling. ;o)

I've never watched it because of the ads. The idea that I want to watch anyone treat others disrespectfully or that anyone believes they have the RIGHT to treat other people in that manner (as if they are somehow better than) makes me insanely angry....too bad because I love bad television.

Just think of it as Survivor in the kitchen. It has nothing to do with anything, most especially, nothing to do with running a restaurant kitchen.

Only the sous chef can cook and I am not sure what her food tastes like, but at least she is organized and calm and could possibly run a kitchen, although she has trouble really controlling the idiots.

I agree with you, Heather should win. She's the most organized and together of all the contestants. Obviously these participants are doing this for a chance to work at the Red Rock resort they keep whoring out at every commercial break.
