Greater Asia/Japan confusion

Peter Cuce Jun 23, 2006 05:37 PM

1. Under Greater Asia, it says:

Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Japan (including Moscow, Beijing and Hong Kong)

2. The pop-up menu you get after clicking on the Asia map spells China incorrectly.

3. What would be the correct board for Indonesia?

The description of the China forum also says it includes Beijing, "Honk Kong" and Shanghai. (Honk if you like Hong Kong?)

I was just about to post something about this—lumping every country that isn't Japan/China/India into a Greater Asia board is ludicrous. For starters, how about a Southeast Asia board for Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam?

No... ludicrous is lumping the entire non-US world on one "International" board. The site's not even up yet. Give things a chance. If the traffic warrants more Asia boards, I'm sure that option will be considered.

And that's clearly not the case anymore, so what's your point? Feedback boards have a purpose, especially during betas. There's no reason to not do things properly right out the gate instead of half-assed, especially when a) adding boards is a simple task with a proper CMS and b) correctly categorizing them encourages future traffic as much as it anticipates it.

The site is out of beta. It's going live as is. Nothing is getting changed at this point. However we certainly do welcome all constructive feedback for future improvements.

Hey guys, good catches on these errors. The changes should be made, and you should see them if you clear your cache. Sorry for the slop- it's been weeks of late nights. No excuse, and thanks for the pick up.
