Aroma Cafe Crowd Control, What's the Deal?

  • d

Last night the SO and I went by Aroma Cafe. It was a mob scene at 10PM, is this place really that good? The crowd was spilling out into the street.

  1. hmmm... i'll take a guess. world cup party?

    1. I don't get it either. It's been in that location for at least the last 10 years & yet in the last year or so it's gotten pretty wacky at ALL hours.

Ironically, I grabbed lunch there today (around 1:30pm-ish). It was awesome. Completely mellow, not a clue why. There was even a sensitive guitarist plucking his heart out in the back patio.

Yikes! Something must have really gone awry.

I agree with most of what has been said, but it has not been in that location for 10 years. It was built last year or so. Also if you don't smoke or hate nosiy places--this is not for you. Smokers line the patio and the inside can get pretty noisy. Definitely a happening place!

      2. OK which one?
The Bosniak place on Overland? The Israeli place on ventura? The coffee place with some food on Tujunga? The moderny fusion hipster prix-fixish place on Sunset in Silverlake across from Cafe Tropical? The gelato place in Sherman Oaks?

Heheh you made me laugh...sorry. This is actually the place in Encino on Ventura Blvd. Aroma Cafe and Bakery.

this is the joint that's big with israelis and they like to kick it hear, to my knowledge there is no falafel dishes but hummus aplenty and other dishes like chicholeena, a pastry like pizza type dish. some people say it's like the closet joint to a real israeli cafe in israel.

        2. MY MISTAKE!!!

I thought you were referring to the Aroma Cafe/Portrait of a Bookstore on Tujunga Ave. in Studio City...oh well.

          1. There's no place like it in the nieghborhood - that's why it's always crowded. If someone would like to open one - we'd all be quite happy!

Well, the Persian version, sorry!, meaning Coral Tree Cafe, will be opening in the former Cha Cha Cha facility on Ventura at Encino Avenue in the next 2 weeks or so, and I am sure it will be much the same scene.
