I have always defaulted to Colle Bereto or the Frescobaldi wine bar for a good cantina. Anyone have any other suggestions?

There is a great wine bar across the Arno, Le Volpi e l'Uva (The Foxes and the Grapes), in Piazza dei Rossi 1r, which is behind P. S. Trinita'. It is incredibly small, but has great glasses of wine for 3-6 euro. Afterward, go to Casalinga on Via dei Michelozzi 9r for incredibly cheap, amazing food.

Thanks. Our grant allows $50 a day per person for food & drink - "incredibly cheap and amazing" will help make the most of it.

My favorite meal in Italy (I went back twice to this resto) was in Florence at a wine bar named Coquinarius. It is not far from the Duomo. I found it in the Time Out guide for Florence.
