Grand Mart ... nope.
Super H ... no.

I even found a closeup photo of a package on the net (writing and all) and said "this is what I need" ... got nothing but puzzlement.

But every restaurant and dimsum cart has sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf and steamed.

So where (in VA, hopefully) has anyone seen packages of dried lotus leaves????

Dropped by Kam Sam today and thought I checked around to see if they actually have it in stock. And they do -- go to the end of aisle no.3 on the right. Hope this helps!

are you sure it is a lotus leaf and not a banana leaf? If it is lotus, ask the restaurant for the name of their supplier, or if they will order some for you.

I have definitely seen them in Great Wall (on Gallows Road). If you can try to ask for "Lian Ye" you might have better luck (rising-tone on 'Lian', falling-tone on 'Ye').

Reason? These are Korean markets. I'd recommend you check out a Chinese market like Great Wall in Merrifield, Maxim in Rockville, or Kam San in either Annandale or Rockville. There's also a tiny, dingy, chinese/vietnamese market in Eden Center that's likely to have it also.

If you can't find lotus leaves, banana leaves are a good substitute.

I know that we (as a Chinese person and family) use them interchangably, depending on what we find first.

If someone hasn't suggested this (I can't remember), try Great Wall supermarket in Fairfax, VA. They're one of the bigger Chinese markets around. Or the one in Edens.

G'luck!
