We picked up Polly-O Mozzarella in one-pound packages for $2.29 on Monday. The lot on sale has a June 30 expiration date. It's a good cooking cheese with a fresh buttery taste and much better than the generic store brands.

Oh, and I noticed that the Starve Dog wines from Adelaide in South Australia were still in stock. The chardonnay and the sauvignon blanc are solid and cleanly made, if not exciting, and excellent value at $4 per bottle.

have you gotten other interesting cheeses there? My NorCal BIL turned me onto a south american (brazilian?) cheese there that was nice and buttery. I have seen some unusual ones at our local store as well.

I don't consider Polly-O particularly interesting, other than that it's not seen often around here. Yes, we always look at the cheese section. English cheddars and Stilton show up from time to time. Cabot cheddar, Tillamook, Havarti, lots of Land o'Lakes on the shelf right now . . . my mom sent me back to get two more pounds of the mozz.

Oh, and I made an error on the Starve Dog wines. They're $4.99 per bottle.

You probably mean the Don Leo cheese from Chile, good melter for panini etc. The plain is better than the green onion or pepper versions.

I have to admit I cruise the cold cases of Grocery outlet about once a week. If you look carefully you find deals ranging from the sublime (goat cheese logs, diced speck) to the bizarre (single serve spam).
