Recs for Chinese food banquet-style dinner for 40 in San Mateo?

I'm looking for a post-baptism dinner on a Sunday in San Mateo. We'd like to stay close to the church so downtown San Mateo would be ideal. I'm thinking about Joy Luck Place but am open to any other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Joy Luck is probably your best bet for a crowd in San Mateo itself. But IHMO, ABC has better food and is nearby in Foster City. I'd also recommend the old Hongkong Flower Lounge or Fook Yuen Seafood in Millbrae, but both are a ways from San Mateo.

We just had a wedding reception-style dinner at Joy Luck Place, and I'd have to say the food looks better than it tastes. (How often do you say that about Chinese food?)

I have to strongly disagree that the food at ABC is better than Joy Luck. ABC has deteriorated recently and it's expensive.

Joy Luck is a good choice, but here are a couple of close places, but none in downtown San Mateo.

Silve House on El Camino and a old favorite Mr. Fong's on Edgewood in Foster City. Both high end Hong Kong/Cantonese.

If you can go to Belmont than China Village on Ralston.

Not sure if Joy on Edgewater in Foster City is Northern Chinese is good.

There more in either directions of San Mateo but not much more in San Mateo city area.

ABC is still around and doing lots of business, especially on Sunday. Haven't been there in years tho.
