Has anyone ever purchased these? I'm talking about the heavy duty disposable napkins some restaurants use. They're so sturdy they almost feel like fabric, but they're meant to be tossed.

I've Googled a bit, and looked at fancy stores like Williams-Sonoma and Sur La Table. No luck. I'm going to try my local party supply store next, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm looking to buy some for a dinner party. I'm not yet at the point in life where I can store two dozen perfectly starched white cloth napkins to be used twice a year, but I would like to get a hand on these study disposables so I can fold fun napkin animals for my guests.

If I can't find what I'm talking about I'll just get some slightly heavier duty party napkins.

Claim Jumper uses these. See if you can get the server to bring out the box/pkg so you can write down the manufacturer. It would be a start.

Yes but then you'd have to eat at Claim Jumper.

I'm sorry, I really am, I just couldn't resist. My mum loves that place and I always regret getting so stuffed on average fare.

I found these heavy duty linen-like napkins at a Japanese supermarket in Seattle once -- I think the idea was you could use them to do origami, and your guests would then unfold them and use them as napkins. They were in small packs of 10 or 20.

Were they in a huge pack? I could handle 100, but not 1000! If you remember anything about the brand or price that would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

I get them over at IKEA. I think they're 3 bucks for a pack of 50, and they have all kinds of nifty designs.

They're called linen-like napkins, Georgia Pacific sells them 400 to the case, for around $40; also Hoffman has them 600 per case for about $35. Hope that helps, here in NY I think there is one wholesaler in Jersey that stocks them, but not impossible to find either.
