Why should ANY employer pay more than what the local economy is willing to support? WHy should we have minimum wages? If they offer too little, then people won't work for them, so they wil offer more until they can compete for workers. Seems pretty simple to me. The other thing I noted is you are assumng these people work for the "Burger King Corporation", when in fact it is probably a local franchise, not a company store.
