KA Mixer making funny clicking sounds

RSMBob Sep 16, 2005 08:05 PM

Ok, let me know if I'm in trouble here.

I was mixing up a good sized qty of dough today and the dough hook just stopped spinning and the unit just revved up. I shut it down and unplugged it for awhile. Now when I plug it in the hook spins but there is this very loud clicking noise. Not sure if it will handle a load or not, but any info advice on what to look for and how to fix it? THanx.

I had this happen with a large batch of dough once, it is likely a broken gear tooth. $40 to $80 for the repair depending on the shop rates but relatively simple.

Start by calling the KA help line, 800-422-1230. They (well, their computer knowledge-base that their reps access) have been very useful when I've called.

I am forever perplexed by people who value advice from amateurs over free advice from knowlegeable people. (Sorry, but I just had to say it, yet again).
