re-post from SF board - Check Please

I'm not sure if it's allowed to post this. (I guess it'll be deleted if it's not) But I thought who better to have an opinion than hounds?
A friend forwarded this to me. So KQED is doing a 'reality' show-like round table discussion on bay area dining. They are looking for everyday folks.
So I thought of you guys! It's called Check Pleaese, Bay Area.
Check Please originated in Chicago and is expanding to other cities with San Francisco being the first one. The show has generated quite a number of posts, some quite vehement, on the Chicago board over the years.
The format calls for three "ordinary" people pushing their favorite restaurants. The quotation marks are deliberate; a fair number of the people aren't so ordinary. The pattern is one fairly high-end place, one more in the cheap eats category and one in between. They delight in things like having a steakhouse and a vegetarian restaurant on the same show.

The Check Please Effect is well-known in Chicago. Diners flood a featured restaurant after the initial broadcast and to a lesser extent with reruns (this is PBS after all). Some small ethnic restaurants have been swamped.
WTTW has been doing this in Chicago for quite a while. Its very popular in that "controversial, love it/ hate it" kind of way.
