Not sure if this has been noted elsewhere, but the James Beard Awards for 2006 were announced last night. I've linked the site, which has a link to the press release.

Some very worthy nominations in there, including LA's own J. Gold (who is known to keep his eye on the 'Hounds), and one of my favorite Omigod WHO KNEW?? restaurant discoveries, Lily's in Louisville, KY - though I have no idea whether the nominated chef is the one in charge when we went there, maybe eight or nine years ago.

She has already done a dinner at Beard House. It is a great restaurant btw. Kathy Carey is disserving of the nomination. Now if those people would look at some of the terrific chefs in smaller towns. Dave Tallent in Bloomington, IN would be a worthy nominee.

Please repost this on our Not About Food board, where these awards are appropriately discussed.

This General Topics board covers edible things, as opposed to awards to chefs, writers and other people.

Folks, don't respond here, as we'll be deleting this thread after the OP's had a chance to repost.
